The first mention of the locality dates back to a sales document dated 06/03/1319, of the notary Jacopo Petrucci, in which a plot of land is sold "in loco ubi dicitur Nibiara" and it is still owned by the Community of Reggio of the 1525 for the request of the construction of a building for a copper mallet probably descending the water by a conduit, after which the route was named. There's an interesting civil country house with oratory. This is dedicated to the Madonna della Ghiara. It was built in 1963 by Flavia Caselli. It has a simple hut facade with arched gate and attic moulded frame. At the beginning of the XIX century, the complex belonged to the Counts Sormani, it then went to the Piazza and lastly to the Barchi. The country house was restored and widened in the course of time but it still preserves obvious distinguishing elements of the original implantation, especially in the inner structures.
