The majestic complex of the Theatre, sorrounded by the public gardens, charachterizes the centre of the city. The complex was built between 1852 and 1857 on a project of the architect from Modena Cesare Costa (1801-1876). It is placed in the urbam space occupied by the ancient fortress and it covers an area of 3890 square meter. The theater was subjected to some variations and it appears unchanged compared to the inaugural moment. Recently dedicated to the actor from Reggio Romolo Valli, it hosts a prestigious lyric and concert season in addition to a rich ballet representation. It has a library, an archive and a historical discotheque open to the public.
